As an abstract painter it’s a good idea to develop your own techniques. It’s also a good idea to review others techniques for inspiration. I discovered a video today by Amy Pearce that demonstrates a favorite technique that I have been using for years. It can be quite messy and some would consider it a waste of paint, but I think that’s the fun part, and the results are anything but a waste. Don’t listen to party-poopers. Have fun and make a mess!
I love how Amy mentions that there’s a certain point where she is so tempted to just go crazy with it, but part of her realizes that it may be a good time to stop. This is really an important principle to remember especially with this method because if you mix the paint too much the colors will just run together.
“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.”
